Winter Wonderland!!!

Now that Thanksgiving and Christmas have passed and the east coast got it's first snow, winter fashion can grace stores and fashionable people everywhere. Walking in a winter wonderland I never leave home without my favorite scarf and gloves. These two items are a winter duo that can be matched with anything whether its and puffy down coat or a nice tweed jacket. Leather,puffy coats, tweed and wool are interchangeable and can be worn with different outfits throughout the season. During the winter not only is being fashionable recommended but being warm and weather ready is key. Pairing feathered fedoras with tweed and a nice cashmere scarf can achieve a sophisticated look for men and women alike. Whatever outerwear you feel like wearing find accessories to accent and complete your look. And you don't have to stick with your basic black ,brown and navy colors, now you can get bright colored outerwear and accessories like royal blue leather motorcycle jackets and matching gloves. When I think about fall fashion the item I get most excited about is boots; boot season is one to embrace. Hidden Treasure!!!

Now that fall fashion week has officially came and gone , and women everywhere are getting ready to purchase there favorite looks I'm still thinking about one show I volunteered for which is Harlem's Fashion Row. Harlem's Fashion Row is a small company started by a women who wants nothing more than to see upcoming minority designers make it in the fashion industry. Brandice Henderson has a vision to help the unknown become known and by starting HFR she has given many fresh and talented designers the setting to showcase their work. I had the pleasure to work behind the scenes at last Fridays spring summer 2011 show and I was truly excited and grateful to be there. Unlike many fashion shows that are put on for the public this one was unique and true to the vision and everything HFR stands for. The setting for the gifted designers Niiamar, Sammy B. , Teflar and Viscera NY was none other than the Studio Museum right on 125th  street in Harlem. Each designers clothing was set up like  a display of artwork within the rooms of the studio and was visually amazing because in my eyes each designers work is art in one of its most creative forms. The fashion exhibit of the designers  was amazing, the people who attended and the wonderful staff of HFR were all amazing and this is an experience and show I will never forget. Colors!

As the fall season approaches and we prepare to say goodbye to the summer, the fashion to come will keep us going. This summer we had an abundance of bright colored clothing and with the fall we will still see great shades of color. This falls fashion allows us to wear clothing inspired by the season with brightest shades like greens, oranges and even darker colors like browns and burgundies. These colors are translated into great fashion from the leaves changing colors to the grass that looks amazing when it rains. Everything from cardigans to comfy tees will be available in fall colors. So with nature providing great fall color some of the highly recognized designers provide the fashion such as Balenciaga with prep school looks ad fur coats in the brightest shade of orange. Gucci has one of the best fall/winter 2010 collections with many shades of brown; from camel to dark chocolate each piece of clothing makes a fall color statement. Colors make clothing everything it is. For the fashion girl on a budget who can’t afford Balenciaga or Gucci or any other haute couture fashion line always look for similar items at stores like Bebe, Forever 21 and even department stores like Macys. Everyone loves a nice simple T-shirt maybe white maybe color, right? Right!!!! In the city I was born and raised Camden NJ where urban street style clothing reigns supreme, the T-shirt is a fashion staple and just over two years ago when Jay and Lu Reyes two brothers from Camden along with their friends Mike Moore and Jemel Balkman starting thinking of a clothing line it was evident they would be next in the game to bring a fresh look to a classic item worn everyday by city kids, teens and adults everywhere. Sweettooth specialtees has become one of the hottest specialty T-shirt companies out. These four young men spent a year working on the concept and design of the tees and finally brought the product to people throughout NJ with limited edition shirts last August and with a marketing campaign that had fashionheads all over wanting a taste. The designs and colors are not like anything else you will see on a daily basis. Sweettooth has even gotten a seal of approval from rapper Wale . Now coming up on the one year anniversary Sweettooth will be releasing new tees, crew necks and lanyards. Me, me, me

Hello everyone , I would like to take time out and formally introduce myself, I'm Candace the creator and editor of Mashionlove. I started this blog to talk about two things I really love fahsion and music as a way to cope with the death of someone close to me but little did I know that I would realize that fashion would somehow turn into me wanting to continuously write and get into styling as my career and Im glad I came to this realization!!! Everything I talk about on his here relates to what I love about fashion and what I love that is out at the current time. My style is simple and a mixture of other things. In early February one of the fashion worlds most celebrated designers Alexander McQueen left us. The devastating news of his passing shocked fans and designers all across the world but in his clothing many will find peace and luxury happiness. Since his early 90s days at Givenchy, Alexander McQueen has blessed the couture world with amazing, bold and dramatic pieces full of color and spice. The Eyes never lie and with former Halston apprentice Naeem Khan's designs how could they?? Khan's Resort/Spring 2010 collections are truly a Sight for Sore eyes!!!! He uses 1920s flapper style inspiration in his dress collection along with his own image of perfection!!!!! His sense of clean lines in some garments and wonderful shapes and bright colors in others makes for a overall stunning line!! He incorporates wonderfully crafted beading, crystal bodice's ,embroidery and fringe into many of his dresses and he does it with class and sex appeal!! Khan has been working his way to the top since leaving Halston in 2003 , but with R&B divas like Alicia Keys and Beyonce draped in his dresses he wont have to work to much harder!!! As long as Naeem Khan is on the scene my eyes will forever be glued!!!!
